We are pleased to share that NET4EXA was actively present at ISC 2026, held in Hamburg from June 22 to 26. This major international event brought together leading experts from academia and industry to explore the latest developments in high-performance computing
Throughout the week, NET4EXA took part in several key activities that highlighted the project’s progress and growing visibility within the HPC community. Invited by the EuroHPC Joint Undertaking, Anton Daumen (Bull) presented the project at the EuroHPC booth, offering a clear overview of its objectives, current status, and challenges, and engaging in valuable discussions with attendees. He also contributed to a roundtable on the future of interconnects and the role of Ultra Ethernet, moderated by Daniele De Sensi (Sapienza di Roma), in a dynamic session that gathered experts and familiar collaborators from the project.
On the research side, the project was further showcased through several presentations, including the award-winning PICO work presented by Saverio Pasqualoni (Sapienza di Roma), which received a Best Paper Award. Congratulations to him and the entire team involved in this achievement. This was complemented by Lorenzo Piarulli (Sapienza di Roma)’s presentation of his paper on the impact of congestion in modern HPC interconnects, shedding light on key performance challenges and bringing useful insights into how large-scale systems behave under pressure.
In addition, two poster contributions helped showcase ongoing work and upcoming results within the project: Fairness Implications of Ultra Ethernet Congestion Control in Datacenters by Taha Abdelazziz Rahmani, Daniele De Sensi and Salvatore Pontarelli (WP3), and Short Hops, Big Gains: Beyond Asymptotic Costs in Collective Communication on Dragonfly+ by Chiara Di Stefano and Daniele De Sensi (WP4).
These contributions also offer a preview of what will be presented at Euro-Par at the end of August, continuing the project’s momentum beyond ISC.
